What You Cannot Miss in June!
Dear reader,
here’s what you cannot miss in June! The heat is here and only getting stronger, so get out of your rooms and get ready for a few ways to relax in the sun.
Before you can worry about any of the events going on, you have to think about a few things. Have you defined your budget? Without knowing what you can spend, you can’t know which events to go to! Have you chosen a neighborhood to live in or, even more specifically, an accommodation? If not, check out our tips for flat-hunting and consider a shared flat! Once you’ve done these, prepare your documents and suitcases, look into the area you’re staying, and get ready for an adventure!

Events and More
- Tuesdays, June – Karaoke Night: If you’ve been waiting on a chance to show off your hidden talent, now is your time. Every Tuesday night this month Citylife Madrid organizes the karaoke night, the perfect time to meet new people and let loose.
- 5-23 June – Suma Flamenca: a festival celebrating the history and growth of flamenca, this event is held mainly in the Teatros del Canal, but also features shows in places including El Real Coliseo de Carlos III de San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the Centro Comarcal de Humanidades Sierra Norte La Cabrera.

- Ojalá: It may seem like there’s a limitless number of things to eat in Madrid, it’s even hard for us to narrow it down sometimes, but if you still haven’t tried Ojalá, you’re missing out. All day brunch, international options, fresh spins on tapas, choice of terrace view or underground beach, Ojalá lets you eat the way you want to.

- Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond: when Jim Carrey, the popular American actor, was asked to play Andy Kaufman, he decided to fully immerse himself into the character. This documentary shows behind-the-scenes footage of this period, when Jim fully became the character he was portraying, both inside and outside of the show. This is an interesting and one-of-a-kind look into the mind of an actor that you just can’t miss.

- Brave New World by Aldous Huxley: a terrifying classic published in 1932, this novel explores a supposed Utopia where people are created, not born. Their lives and decisions are chosen for them before they are even able to walk, their technology surpasses even their emotional capacity. This world, one of imagination and terror, was written as a warning by Aldous Huxley– a warning that all should read.

- 16 June – Cuenca: starting with an adventure through the Júcar and ending with a stroll down the cobbled streets of a city best known for its hanging houses, you can’t miss this trip to Cuenca with Citylife Madrid. This is the perfect chance to go canyoning and dive through clear waters in an unforgettable location. Check here for more info.
- 22-23 June – Valencia: Miss feeling cool sand between your toes and the hot sun on your back? Travel to Valencia, a city known for its beautiful beaches. When you’re done at the beach visit its City of Arts and Sciences or grab some paella and shop! You can find more info on this trip here.
