Pools in Madrid

Hello readers,

Sunny and hot weather headed Madrid and this means that pools are finally open in the city!

It’s now time to take off your clothes, wear your swimsuit and flip-flops; don’t forget to take some ice-cream, strawberries and leave your room...let’s go enjoy the amazing pools the city has to offer to you and your flatmates!

Even though Madrid is basically in the very center of Spain, surrounded by mountains and no clue of white sandy beaches or rocky coastline, you can still dive in the water and fill your body with vitamin D: the city offers a lot of public pools and rooftop ones, to have fun, to tan, to relax...or whatever you’d rather do!

Get ready to take note (and your sunscreen), we are going to provide you with some public, recreational pools but also with some rooftop and natural ones.

  1. CDM (Centro Deportivo Municipal) - Public pool

Usually opened from May 15th till the end of September, these city’s official public pools are located all throughout the city. Here are the cheapest options (starting at 4.50 euros!) for you to take a swim in Madrid.

The most popular is the Centro Deportivo Municipal Casa de Campo, that you can reach by metro taking line 6 to Puerta del Angel or line 10 to Lago.

  1. Complutense University pool - Recreational pool

Located in one of the most famous universities of Madrid, this pool is what you are looking for: students and young people chilling and relaxing after the stressful exams’ session. There’s everything you need: changing rooms, bar, lockers, enough space to relax. Just bring your ID to get in, cause it’s available to students and lecturers only.

Ps. it will open in June, just wait few more days!

  1. Gymage - Rooftop pool

Located at the beginning of Malasaña, Gymage is a little corner of paradise in the middle of Madrid! Here there’s all a young student or worker needs: gym, bar, chic rooftop with garden and...finally the pool!

  1. La Terraza de Oscar Hotel - Rooftop pool

This option is a little more expensive than the others, but we assure you that if you want to treat yourself with a luxurious day by the pool you will enjoy what we are about to tell you. Located in the beautiful Chueca neighbourhood, the terrace of the Room Mate Oscar Hotel hosts a little but exclusive pool. It let you admire a breathtaking view over the city, while enjoying a relaxing atmosphere created by Tomas Alia, a famous interior designer.

The prices are 35 euros (Monday/Thursday) from 10am to 7pm and 35 euros half-day on the  weekend or 60 euros for the full day entrance.

Compulsory: you must send an email to make your pool reservation!

  1. Cercedilla - Natural pool

The natural pools in Cercedilla are the closest natura ones to Madrid. You can head out there with less than 2 hours, by Renfe or bus and then by hiking from the station to the pool. This option is perfect for a little get-away from the crowded city, to relax within a suggestive and beautiful natural landscape. The price is between 5 and 6 euros (it depends on weekdays or weekend).
