Vintage shops in Madrid

Vintage shops in Madrid, there are many and they are amazing! We are into vintage shops and vintage clothes and if you share with us this “passion”, you will certainly enjoy our last post of the column “Getting around”. It should be about Madrid streets, it is true, but we want to begin 2019 bending the rules.

Vintage shops… Do you know some? Finding interesting little vintage shops is not too difficult in Madrid. It happened several times, even before thinking of this post, to run into a nice corner of the past. Madrid treasures many of these shops and we have decided to discover them for and with you.

Actually, vintage should not be only a trend. Whenever you decide to buy new clothes or new items, it is important to do it conscientiously. First, we should avoid buying items that we do not need (we are experts ahahah. Cannot count the clothes that still have a tag). Second, if we are shopaholic, we should try to be at least sustainable and vintage/second hand shops may be good options.

Well, helpMadrid prevents you from buying many items to make your shared flat cosy. Our shared flats are already as comfortable and pretty as you own home; therefore, you will not need to buy many items to make it become your new home away from home.

Nonetheless, we have decided to have a look at some of the vintage shops that entertain us during our long afternoons in Madrid… (Actually, the afternoons in Madrid are never too long, but we needed an excuse to go shopping ahahah).

The 2nd Room

Raise your hand if you like designers! Well, let’s say so, we enjoy fashion and if it is cheaper, we enjoy it even more. As you may have guessed, our first vintage shop is a little bit posh. Vintage Dior, Chanel and Armani are affordable and you finally may have the chance to buy the bag or the leather jacket of your dreams. If we like it? Of course we do!

Address: Calle Piamonte 15.

La mona Checa

Why is this vintage shop the second of our list? Let’s say so, the interiors of this place are worth a visit, even if you are not interested in buying anything. This little paradise for shopaholics looks like a circus! Isn’t that interesting? We find this shop so original that we had to add it to our list.

Address: Calle Velaverde 2.

Magpie Vintage

If you are looking for the perfect retro piece, this is your place! Our fourth choice is Magpie Vintage, but it will be your first choice if you are into 80s and 60s. Clothes are not the only thing you can buy there: accessories for both men and women are available! Well, it is time to head south; with the next suggestion, we will change district.

Address: Calle Velaverde 3.

El Rastro

This one is not a shop; it is a market… Well, we can consider it a huge open-air shop ahahah. Why have we included the most famous Sunday flea market of Madrid? Because vintage are not exclusively clothes, but also a wide variety of items (you cannot imagine it ahahah). El Rastro is undoubtedly the right place to find whatever you need and whatever you want. Do you wish a wooden stool? There we go!

Address: La Latina.

Pepita is dead

This shop is not like any other shop, the atmosphere is different. A soft music lulls you when you are browsing; the interiors displace you back in time; the items are unique pieces… Our last suggestion seems to be quite special. Pass bye and have fun looking at the 60s and 70s clothes and accessories.

Address: Calle del Doctor Fourquet 10.

So, have you enjoyed our walk? “Getting around” is always a good idea ahahah. This column, even if this week we have bent the rules, helps us discover many corners of Madrid. This is the main reason why we have designed it and we live it so much. Are we biased? Maybe, but Madrid is factually gorgeous and a column to discover it is not that bad.

Leisure is a great topic, but let’s talk about something more serious… Have you already found the accommodation of your dreams? As always, we suggest you to find a nice cosy-shared flat to share your experience with other students or young workers from all over the world. Furthermore, you may go all together for a walk in order to discover even more vintage shops!

As always, time flies and it is time to say goodbye. We have a very good news though; another blog post is coming soon!
