Christmas markets in Madrid

Christmas Markets and Madrid… This is definitely our favourite part of the year. Both the colours of the autumn and beautiful decorations and lights make Madrid amazingly beautiful. Moreover, you can browse around the Christmas markets and taste a warm Mulled wine or some deliciously sweet Eggnog.

Well, everyone has understood that today’s blog is about Christmas Markets and, specifically, Christmas markets in Madrid. We cannot get more Christmassy here ahahah. Maybe, this year, we are exaggerating with this Christmas mood, but we got hooked! We are providing you with great plans for you and your flat mates, we have edited a menu for your Christmas dinner, we have listed a very long wish list and now it is time for a walk.

Before talking about mulled wine, chocolate and nougats, we have a suggestion for you! A brand new year is coming soon; therefore, many of you are already planning their new adventure. Oh my word! We like digressions, but this time we got over ahahah. Before this situation spins completely out of control, let’s talk about our Christmas markets. We will have a walking tour to discover some of the prettiest markets that you can visit in this Christmassy month. Are you ready to stroll around Madrid?

Our christmassy list!

Christmas Market in Plaza Mayor

This is one of the most central Christmas Markets in Madrid and, we guess, one of the most famous. Even though you do not have to imagine the traditional Nordic Christmas Market, we really like the atmosphere of this square during Christmas holidays. Many decorations, an amazing Christmas tree and pretty gift ideas…

Market in Plaza de Callao

Another square, another tree. To be honest, this market is way smaller than the other one, but it makes this square both Christmassy and spectacular. It is quite crowded, but it is worth a visit.

Feria dulces de Navidad

Let’s stay in the city centre for a little bit longer. In Plaza Isabel II there is the sweetest Christmas Market ever: it is entirely dedicated to traditional Christmas treats and Spanish specialties such as Nougat. We don’t want to take a strong position, but this may be one of our favourites ahahahah

Christmas Market in Plaza La Remonta

We are now heading North! In Tetuan, a neighbourhood in Madrid, there is one of the biggest and most important Christmas Market in the city. Stalls, ice rinks and a great atmosphere… This is the market you cannot miss.

Mercado del diseño

From North to South, this is we meet in the Matadero: it is a cultural centre where many interesting events take place during the whole year. During Christmas time, there is the “Market of Design” and it may be interesting to browse around. We do not know how are you dealing all the presents thing, but we haven’t done them yet ahahahah

These were just some of the nice markets that you can visit during Christmas or in December. Here a more complete list with more Christmas Markets!

Have you enjoyed this amazing Christmas atmosphere? We turned into Christmas elves and we are more than ready for Christmas day. We have tasted some good sweets, we got some mulled wine, we have bought some more decorations for our shared flats and our rooms, and we got some presents for our parents… We are actually ready to come back home and spend a calm evening with our flatmates.

We will see again in few days with the last Christmassy blog post…

Enjoy the Christmas markets!
