“5 tips to get the most out of Madrid” this is the topic of our monthly column dedicated to tips and information to organize your stay abroad. We may report obviousness; nonetheless, we believe that a clear overview is always helpful not to forget anything important.
We know you are all excited and you cannot wait to enjoy Madrid and, for this reason, we have decided to give you five tips to save time and money during your stay. This article will be a good starting point to look for a shared flat, organize your weekends, manage your budget and have fun!
Are you ready? We try to give you helpful suggestions in every article we post. However, it is always a good idea to repeat, repeat and repeat. Even at the cost of being boring… Talking about boredom, should we start?
TIP NUMBER ONE
The location of your flat…
As we always point out, it may appear irrelevant, especially if you live in a big city with efficient public transports. And, as we always suggest you, do not underestimate the importance of a good location. The city centre is better than any suburbs kilometres away from all the places where you will hang out. A grocery shop and a greengrocer close to your flat are priceless. Banks, post offices, metro stations, bars, restaurants, etc. are all details that will improve your living standards.
Do you need help in this respect? You always know that you can always count on us. We constantly provide you with information about neighbourhoods and even with rooms in flats located in some of the best parts of Madrid. We strive every day to be your reference point.
TIP NUMBER TWO
Take advantage of free entrances…
Museums and exhibitions have some days (if you are 26, always) when the entrance is free. Madrid offers you great masterpieces and you are spoilt for choice. There is a huge amount of museums all around the city. Don’t miss this chance: during free time, when someone visits you, when you don’t know what to do… It is always the right moment to getting cultural. Moreover, it’s free; you have no excuse!
TIP NUMBER THREE
Know locals or Spanish people…
Living in an international environment is always a great opportunity to improve language skills and widen your horizons. Part of this international experience is the contact with locals or, in general, Spanish people. You will find good friends and you will hang out in the best bars, restaurants and clubs of Madrid.
TIP NUMBER FOUR
Avoid the touristic area…
When you want to go out for dinner or for a drink, it is always a good idea to avoid the touristic areas. Why? For several reasons:
- Food won’t be neither traditional nor very tasty
- It is more expensive
- It is constantly crowded
If you want to experience the real Spanish atmosphere, it always better to hang out in places where Spanish people are. If there are a lot of locals, it is good for sure!
TIP NUMBER FIVE
Enjoy activities and courses…
Of course, you need some free time, but doing interesting activities with friends and flatmates is important, too. Studying, reading a book, watching a movie are important moments to chill and rest. Nonetheless, Madrid offers a lot and it would be a huge loss not taking part to events, activities, courses, etc. It is the fastest way to meet people and to learn new things.
This time we have been brief, but hopefully helpful. Our aim is to entertain our readers, but also to provide them suggestions that will ease their lives. Besides offering rooms in shared flats and several additional services, we want to be your reference point during your stay in Madrid. You can always count on us… after all, we are your home away from home!
