TV series set in Madrid

TV series set in Madrid

TV series set in Madrid… We have already mentioned this topic some months ago and we have mentioned some of the most successful Spanish TV series. It is time to add some more of them in our cultural column. The last time we have talked about Spanish writers, some weeks before about Spanish directors and museums. Today, it is time so mention some TV series that you cannot miss.

Some of you may be newcomers. This means that you are new in Madrid, your Spanish is still basic and you may still looking for an accommodation. helpMadrid will guide you during your stay not only by offering you nice and renovated rooms in shared flats, but also by providing you with information about Madrid, its neighbourhoods, the activities you can do when you have some free time… Follow our blog and check weekly the posts about the Spanish capital: they will help you to get the most out of your stay in Madrid.

Back to TV series. Why should you definitely watch some Spanish ones? First, to widen your horizons: USA is not the only country that produces good quality TV series. Second, to have some plan to spend the evening when you actually do not want to go out and meet with friends. Last, but not least, to practice some Spanish: by watching them in their original language, you will easily improve your language skills.

There are many ways to spend your evenings or your weekends, but, as you may have guessed, our ideal evening/afternoon is at home, with a warm blanket, a cup of tea and a good TV series. Here, our ultimate list of Spanish TV series that will entertain you (believe us: they are amazing!).

So, are you at home? By living in a shared flat, you will have the chance now to organize a TV series night with popcorns and tea, with chocolate and chips… Do not get us wrong, but we have to finish this post soon ahahah. You know we really enjoy spending our time with all of you, but we really want to go home and watch some TV series’ episode in our shared flat… We just have to go to the supermarket, buy some popcorns and we are ready!

Las chicas del Cable

This is our first TV series (the list is not a ranking), Netflix has produced it, and it has had a great success. Translated as “Cable Girls”, it is about one of the most important telecommunications companies settled in Madrid and the changes in the life of four girls who begin to work for this company in 1928. Good news: there are three seasons and another one is coming soon! Cannot wait to know what’s going on in the next episodes…

Velvet

This is another period drama (1950) and it is an amazing love story between a dressmaker and the owner of a gallery. Good news: there are three seasons. Bad news: no other seasons are in programme. If you are a romantic person, you’ll love this heart-breaking story. If you are not, well, we are going to suggest you something else!

El Internado

This TV series is a thriller and, if the previous one could have been a little bit too sappy, this one will win you over. It focuses on the students of a school in a forest far from the city where macabre events occur. Scary, isn’t it?

Elite

This is a Spanish teen drama by Netflix and you should definitely give it a chance. It is the story of three young students of humble birth who win a scholarship for an important and elitist school in Madrid. Very important topics are tackled, therefore this TV series had to be on our list. But the good is yet to come…

La casa de Papel

We know we have already written about this one, but it is just too good not to mention it again. Moreover, the newcomers cannot miss the chance to watch such a catchy TV series. Eight thieves lock themselves in the Royal Mint and a mastermind pull the strings behind the scenes. A heartbreaker story with twists and turns that has captured the attention of thousands of people worldwide: from the Saudi Arabia, to France and Brazil.

Vis a Vis

Hard core scenes, twists and turns. These ingredients make this TV series so interesting and so cruel. The first season is much better than the second one, nonetheless, you should definitely watch Vis a Vis. Here a very brief summary (we hate spoilers): a woman accused of four tax crimes is sent to prison and has to deal both with an emotional shock and with difficult relationships inside the prison.

As we have mentioned many times, shared flats are our favourite housing solution. Why? Because you can meet many new friends and spend with them unforgettable evenings. You share not only the kitchen or the living room, not only the expenses and the rent. You will share with them an experience, an experience that you will remember forever. We are getting emotional, better going home and watch a TV series.

As it is time to say goodbye, one last question. Have you already read our post about time management techniques? We are using them every day and they actually work… We are saving extra time to take care of our followers. So, have a look at the post and manage your time. All this to have some extra time to visit the beautiful Madrid or to enjoy a night out with your friends. By the way, an episode is waiting for us.

See you soon with another blog post!
